A brief story about Darlene Tully
Born and raised in Ontario, Darlene travelled across Canada to British Columbia often as a youngster. She made British Columbia her home in 2003 and enjoys the dramatic beauty Canada's West Coast offers. Darlene has always felt connected with nature and enjoys portraying the relationship between humans and our natural world in her paintings. She uses her art to convey the harmony that can happen in this interaction. Darlene loves exploring the spontaneity of watercolour.
The earliest recollection of creating artwork was during Kindergarten when Darlene made a mixed media picture for a friend in school. It incorporated flower petals, grasses, and wax crayon. Since that time, there has been no turning back. She enjoys experimenting with art media and has developed her own style of art, using playfulness of light and shadow, and enchanting colour. Darlene achieved a Psychology degree and a Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy at the University of Western Ontario, and is studying at the University of Victoria for her Master's of Education in Counselling Psychology. Currently she works as a counsellor, art therapist, and artist on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
Darlene creates images depicting the beauty that surrounds her, and has an extraordinary ability to capture the unique essence of homes, landscapes, and portraits.
